Take level 2, it just has some more pre-cal stuff.

Got a 780 on level 2.

i wouldnt worry much about them, i know someone who got a 690 on IIC (i think thats about 50th percentile, and i got a 790, but we both got in.

I beat your friend on crappy scores. 650 on IC!!

haha, congrats?

Thank you... I must say that I did not have to work very hard to get that 650. I am just not good at math!

i would suggest IIC. I have heard it's easier? And the scale is nicer. i took IIC without studying and got a 780. It's really easy. Just brush up on algebra ii, some pre-cal, and a little bit of geometry

S took both tests without prepping (did well in pre-calc) and got a 740 on IC and a 680 on IIC. I don't think IIC is as easy as everyone on this board seems to think it is. His roommate, a math whiz (780 on SAT I) got a 710 on IIC.

heres a thread currently on that subject:

i would still recommend IIC because you can miss sometimes up to 5 questions and still get an 800 and its not that much harder than SAT I math. im sure its possible, but a math whiz getting a legitimate (as in not sick on test day) 710 seems pretty odd to me. the people good at math at my school got 800's. IIC involves i guess you could say more high school math. but to put this into focus, as long as you have a 700 or so, they probably won't really notice (ie i think its a bad idea to depend on scores). if you dont, talk to torrestowers because she clearly worked some magic :)

I just don't think that Rice puts much emphasis on SATs and SAT IIs. I didn't do well on either of them. 1300 on SAT and 650 Writing, (I just remembered that I got a 660 on Match IC) and a 630 on US History. I also only got a 26 on the ACT! I guess my GPA/ Class Rank made up for a lot of my slack in that area (please don't say that there was grade inflation at my school just because I did not do well on these tests). I had a 4.2832 by the end of 1st semester of my senior year and I was ranked fourth. Plus I had a lot of excellent ECs. And most importantly (in my opinion) a unique and strong essay.

I am a guy. Do I "sound" like a girl online? I am just curious because sreis used the pronoun "she"

i just like to break convention.

yeah i agree i dont think they put much emphasis on scores, either. they do, however, put a huge emphasis on class rank. quite a few kids applied from my school, and it pretty much went down the line of class rank, not SAT scores or EC's. one of the smartest kids from my school and the smartest applying didn't get in almost solely because of rank (40-50%). in fact i would go so far as to say the higher ranking applicants had fewer EC's and lower scores. the high ranking kids got in, i got in, but none of the applicants behind me in terms of rank did. so scores basically can't really cut your chances, but rank can.

but what if your school doesnt rank?

Don't they sometimes ask the counselor to estimate the applicant's rank? I don't know if Rice does this on their app.
