**SAT 2 Physics Discussion Thread Oct 2015**

Why the Physics thread always go quiet after scores come out?

Because some of us are so incredibly disappointed with ourselves that we have sheathed ourselves into the shadows of reality :frowning: @kittymom1102

Congrats, @Shradheya410 ! I am a bit below you: 800 M2, 800 physics, 780 Chem (unless you took M1 instead of M2).

@Anubis13 Sorry to hear you are disappointed :frowning: Remember that you don’t need 800 to show that you know A LOT of Physics. IMO anything above 700 shows a strong grasp of the subject.

You can take it again and build on what you already have. Good luck!

What do you think of a 700 in Physics? Is it good to send it to selective schools if the other two SAT subjects are 800 (Math II) and 760 (Chem)? It was self prepared, not having taken a full year course of Physics at school yet (self-prepared over the summer on Honors Physics). It could be good to show some standardized measure of mastery in Physics to compensate for not having a school grade for a full year. First quarter grade (senior year) in AP Physics is an A. Would it be better to just show the first quarter grade only? Or send both the 700 and the first quarter grade? The rest of the application is very strong (gpa above 4, SATI 2360). Thank you for your thoughts.

Kittymom1102, congratulations to your son’s 790, awesome score!

@ReminiscingDad Thanks! He was actually tormented all day long on Thursday thinking about the 790 because he knows exactly two questions he got wrong. When he was finishing his last problem/questions, he remembered a principle tested on another problem and immediately realized he had answered incorrectly. The problem had 3 components (questions), the first and the second were interconnected, so getting the first one wrong led to getting the second one wrong. As he started flipping back the pages looking for the diagram concerning those questions, the proctor said the time was up!

Changing those questions would have given him the 800! All he needed was one more minute :frowning:

Well, it wasn’t meant to be.

Concerning your son’s test. I am sure he won’t be hurt by the score. I clearly remember having read something (I think on the MIT website) that when students are still taking a course, they factor that in when looking at the scores. Additionally, I do believe that anything above 700 shows a good foundation. He is more than fine, especially having 2 other great scores.

Good luck and good job!

Thank you kittymom1102, your son shouldn’t worry at all, 790 is the same as 800, it’s within the same range of probability if he were to take the test again. Thanks for your advice.

Did anyone else miss out on their scores? Mine didnt come in, and I contacted Collegeboard but they havent replied. HELPPPP. I need them asap since my college apps are due in less than a week.

When will the October score be sent to colleges? My May ones are already sent but not the October ones

Took it on my Junior year and got an 800, lol.
And Yes I took AP Physics C Mechanics and C Electricity & Magnetism exams on my sophomore year and got 5’s on both.
