SAT 2s

I read somewhere that ivies will look at any SAT 2 with a score above 700 as sufficient... is this true for Harvard, MIT, Yale, Stanford ..... and others?

It’s a holistic process. So, they will consider every aspect of your application. Generally, people aim for 750+. However, if other parts of your application are strong, 700+ will not hurt you.

@Gupi thanx cause i have a 790 math 2 and a 710 physics(bombed) and i wasnt sure how they look at this… any ideas?

be realistic, a 790 and 710 isn’t going to be what keeps you from getting in.

bumpppppppppppppp

Agreed with the other posters. 750+ is generally considered a strong score, but a 710 certainly won’t stop you from getting in. Your essays, for example, are far more important than 50 points on your SAT II Physics test.

Good luck! =)

whew, that makes me feel better cuz i have 700 and a 770 for my subject tests

Honestly I have a 740 bio, 710 US History, and 760 Lit and I think I am beyond screwed for somewhere like harvard so not to rain on your parade buddy but ya…I would definitely consider a retake.

^ You’re personality would probably get you rejected right away from Harvard.

When Harvard says anything 700 or higher is competitive, they mean it. The essays are usually the major deciding factor of acceptance or rejection. (After SAT, SAT 2, GPA, and EC’s suffice etc.)

Where does harvard mention anything about 700 above being competitive aside from their extremely vague website with no number stats backing said statements. Basically an encouraging plow just to get your application fee. Show me stats DIRECT from harvard (not collegeboard and secondary reporting institutions) and I will believe you.

^Harvard doesn’t have an application fee. Nice try.

Yes, they do. It’s $75, but you can apply for a fee waiver

They say on the website that most applicants have 600-00 range :stuck_out_tongue: thats really narrow haha but i guess they have their reasons and I doubt that an institution with 35 billion dollars endowment really cares about your $75 input…
but concerning the SAT 2 I think that you guys are right about this… in a good application it would’nt really be a deal breaker… thnx!

600-800* 10charmin

bumppppppppp

Why are you bumping?

just to get some more opinions :stuck_out_tongue: the deadline for the SAT is tomorrow and I’m still racking my brain over it :S

I think you should be fine with your scores, but if it’s going to bother you, and you think you can do better, then it’s worth a shot.

Don’t rack your brain over it. Honestly, I would advise that you don’t retake it.

The rest is up to you.
