Today was the fourth time ive taken this god forsaken exam, my first score was 1710, and 3rd was 1900. Will it hurt my chances into getting into a UC or does it not matter b/c they go off a point system, and only calculate your highest score..?

well, 4 times is a little to much. it's actually going to hurt u because there's like this unspoken rule about how u can only take it 3 times. so, good luck!

but on the uc app's they only want ur top score :x

I plan on taking the SAT for the fourth time (signed up for it, but not sure if I'm going to go through with it yet though..), and I'm wondering the same thing since I'm only applying to UCs. -_-

i think that the ucs ONLY see your top score, @ least thats my understanding from their application...am i right?

They see all your scores, but they only use your top score for their calculations.

The whole "take-it-more-than-three-times-and-they-will-average-your-score" thing is a rumor and nothing more. Maybe it applies to some colleges, but it doesn't apply in the UCs (it says this on their website)

Oh wow, that's a huge relief. Thanks!

I actually called the admission offices of several UC campuses and they said that you can take the SAT as many times as you want and that it won't count against you.

That's nice to hear, cuz I'm planning to take it a 4th time.

I just signed up for the December test. I'm really hesitant though. I really hope 4 times doesn't affect admissions. Although they say it technically doesn't, the admissions officers will probably think "This person is really obsessive".

I'm taking it for the fourth time in December too and I've been feeling really apprehensive about possibly taking the SAT "too many" times, but one of the college counselors at my school told us during one of her College Admissions info sessions that UCs use computers to pick the best SAT I and SAT II scores from each applicant's score report and that those are the only scores the admissions officers will see when they consider the applications.

I don't know if I believe what she says though...

Alot of the counselors I talk to just randomly say stuff to you to get you to stop asking questions, so I don't really trust them XD. Haha.

Haha, I think the counselors I've talked to say random (and sometimes contradictory) things too. -_-

sighs I still don't know if I should take it a 4th time. Would colleges really look down on a 4th time, even if you've improved?
