SAT 4th time or the ACT for the 1st time?

Hello everybody

I am a high school senior who has applied to many colleges already. Due to an emergency which caused me to be ill for my 3rd sat has caused my score to go down. I am seriously thinking about taking another test and rushing the scores to colleges, so is it better to take the fourth sat or the first act. BTW, my scores are
first sitting : M560,CR630,W510
second sitting: M660,CR590,W570
third sitting: M600,CR600 W570( the one where I was really ill)

They wont believe you were sick with only a 60 point drop

All three of your SAT scores are roughly within the expected margin of error. I definitely would not bother taking it again.

There might be some merit to trying the ACT, since it evaluates your abilities in a slightly different manner. However, I would not send the scores to schools without first making sure that the differences between the SAT and ACT worked in your favor. Also, I would highly recommend doing some extensive test prep work before taking it. You will need to check with admissions offices of the schools to which you applied to see how late in the process they can accept the scores.

Perhaps the best route is simply to recognize that you have already put your best effort in and hope for the best with your applications as they are.

Well the thing is before that test on the paced practice tests I was receiving scores of about 2100, so I believe I dropped by more than 60 points

Do you have some reason to believe you’ll do better than you did the first 3 times? I’d go with the ACT.

Thanks for the replies everybody, I think i’ll take a practice ACT and if I score anything better than 28 i’ll take it if not, then I just won’t take any test.
