Well, guys im pretty frustrated. I found out last year that my school offered an SAT Vocal Prep class as an elective and I just couldn't turn the opportunity down. However, i just got my schedule in the mail and i found out that its half SAT prep and half ACT prep. I'm dead set on taking the SAT not the act as i do well on the SAT (2000+) and horrible on the act (24), so i was hoping if you guys acquainted with both test could let me know if i would still benefit from the ACT verbal portion of the class?? In other words, are the SAT writing and reading portions similar to the ones in the ACT? Thanks in advance.

Anyone know?

I thought preparing for the writing section on the SAT made me more aware of the mistakes on the English section of the ACT. But, i did have to do some extra prep for the ACT despite preparing for the SAT.

The reading sections on the two tests are completely different. The ACT includes passages that are long and easy to read, and questions that are direct, to the point, and much less critical. The time on the ACT reading is MUCH less than the time on the SAT reading, which is why the ACT trips up a lot of people

The SAT reading section is MUCH more lenient on the time, but it includes a vocabulary section and questions that require a much deeper critical mind-set.

I personally did better on the ACT but that was because the vocabulary on the SAT destroyed me.

Good luck!

Thnks man, just knowing that, at the very least, the prep I’ll get for the writing portion of the ACT will be an aid for when i take the SAT is comforting. thnx again.
