Sat/act

I think I'll be applying to Yale RD this year, and I had a quick question about sending both SAT and ACT scores. I know that with Yale SAT II scores aren't required, but I feel like mine (all three 760+) would do my application good... but if I send them Yale also gets my regular SAT score, which isn't bad (2230; M 750 V 720 W760), but I know tons of kids with higher scores will be applying to Yale too. So I'm wondering if it's worth it to send my marginally higher ACT score (34; M 33 E 35 R 34 S 34 W 31 (8/12)) as well? I took both tests only once (fall of junior year)...

If money isn’t a problem, you should send both SAT & ACT. Your SAT IIs could help your application and your SAT won’t hurt it since you have a strong ACT. JMO

34 on the ACT is 2280–2330.

Definitely send both.

34 act corresponds to 2260 sat. see the conversion chart here:

[SAT-ACT Conversion chart](http://teachers.sduhsd.k12.ca.us/lccounseling/SAT-ACT_Conversion_chart.htm)

I think the OP may be comparing his SAT for the M&CR only, which is under the converted ca. 1500.

Woah, what??? I’m pretty sure Yale requires 2 SAT II Subject tests…

Also with the SAT scorechoice thing, you can send only your subject scores and not send your reasoning score. So I don’t see where the problem is…

“I know that with Yale SAT II scores aren’t required”

You may be misinformed. The scores are only optional if you submit the ACT.

right. If you choose to only send in your SATs then you MUST send in SATIIs.

ffb, Y does not permit score choice.

I don’t want to put words in the OPs mouth (I was confused about the SAT IIs my first reading too), but I think they are planning on sending the ACT but are unsure if it would be a good idea to send SATs as well since they would have to send both SAT & SAT IIs. And while the SAT IIs are great, the SAT is slightly lower (M&V) than the converted ACT.

Thanks for the responses, guys.

Entomom, sorry if I was a little unclear. Because of my good SAT II scores, I’ve decided that I’m going to send my SAT’s to Yale, and as such I’m not required to send my ACT score, but I was just wondering if people thought a 34 ACT was better than a 2230 SAT I to the extent that I should send my ACT’s too.

Send them all and leave it up to Yale.
