Hi!
I’m currently a junior. I just recently took the SAT in October and got a 1300 unfortunately. I got a 630 in the R&W and a 670 in the M. In addition, I got a 7,7,6 on the essay. I really, really want to get my score to at least a 1450 by the next time I take it. I think I am going to take it again in January most likely. Do you guys have any tips/study plans that can help me get my score up to my goal in a span of two months? Also, do I have to redo the essay? Thanks so much in advance. I am also trying to apply to UVA, W&M, and UPenn.
For both math and writing, there are concepts that are used throughout the test that can just be worded differently, so once you figure out what they’re asking, most questions aren’t that difficult to figure out because you can see a similar line between them. For example, there are often a couple questions in the reading/writing section that involve superfluous information, like “There is an annual charge for rent each year” and you would know that “annual” means the same thing as “each year”, so you would pick the option that gets rid of “annual”. Another example is the use of similar triangles in the math section.
I got a SAT math practice book and improved my math score by about 50 points in less than a month. You could probably do Khan academy if you don’t want to buy a practice book.
