SAT after getting I-20 ?

Hello,

I'm facing an unique problem, I was told by some Visa Agent/Consultant that I need to show the V.O my SAT & TOEFL results, if I'm going for Undergraduate study. Thereby, my parents are forcing me take SAT I this upcoming October 9th, but I have already applied to about 11 universities, out of which I believe I will get admissions from most of them WITHOUT my SAT,as none of them require SAT & as I have already mailed each of them my TOEFL scores.

So I want to know that is it mandatory for students to show SAT results if they're going for undergrad study, even after they received their acceptance letter & I-20 ?

Thanks, please reply quickly...only 30 seats are left in my State's SAT center.

FWIW, they never asked for my SAT results when I applied for a US Visa.

The lady at the counter where the collect all your paperwork asked me for my standardized test results, among other things of course.

At the end of the interview, the interviewer remarked that my SAT scores were impressive (so she certainly looked at them, even though I had a very short interview when compared to almost all my friends, whose interview lasted almost a minute or two, when mine was done less than a minute)

So, what’s the final verdict ? Shall I sit for the SAT I exam or not ?
As I said I’m 100 % sure I will get admissions to universities, & talking about Standardized Tests Scores, I have TOEFL, so plz tell me Yes or No !!!

It’s a long way before you get your I-20, and I’d say you wait till you get your I-20 and then ask your college what you should do. You’ll probably have to get a letter from the college stating that the college has waived the SAT requirement for you (or doesn’t require the SAT test) and that the college is confident of your abilities without considering your SAT score.

Ok I will try that, but I don’t think the university will do anything like that.
I’m really confused, plz anymore suggestions ?

If the college is confident of you academic and english abilities then I dont think you should worry much. If you have a decent enough toefl score to validate your point then I think you are done for it. The visa officer not only judges on your ability in academics and english but also on your ability to pay for you all expenses. Prepare well on that front as well. I have known of people who have got visas without SAT scores but they had good toefl scores.

I have 88 out of 120 in TOEFL IBT… & Trust me I speak damn good english, all I’m worrying about is the formalities of showing a SAT score, nothing else.

And yes about the financial stuff…Since I’m going for undergrad study i.e 4 years how many years of funding should I show in paper ?
Like say if my I-20 says 27000 $ i.e 1st year, then shall I show

you only need to show you have enough funding for the first year. i highly doubt anybody has 4 years worth of tuition money lying around in a bank account.

I-20 from my University will show about 27000 $ i.e. 1st year
I can show about 65000 $ instantly as I have a Educational Loan sanction letter, but my Visa agent said me I need to show enough funds for the entire study period of 4 years or more… :(

My sponsor has a Provident Fund statement worth 50,000 $, can I include that too in the funds along with the Edu. Loan ?

Will my show of fundings be enough for the interview ?

although you need to show enough for a years funding, you also need to demonstrate you (Your sponser) will continue earning enough to support you education in further years. Maybe a letter from employer or other documents and yes for the formalities you dont need the SAT scores. When asked for the standarized test score you will need to show your TOEFl scores.

This addresses both the test score and funding (1 year vs 4 years) questions:

Thanks a lot of guys…

It seems I have a problem not with the formalities but with my Visa Agent :)

Anyways…Any1 has anymore advise ?

:)

@ bar!um

Thanks man for the info !!
But I found this on the .gov site that
Financial evidence that shows you or your parents who are sponsoring you have sufficient funds to cover your tuition and living expenses during the period of your intended study. For example, if you or your sponsor is a salaried employee, please bring income tax documents and original bank books and/or statements. If you or your sponsor own a business, please bring business registration, licenses, etc., and tax documents, as well as original bank books and/or statements.

That’s the reason am bit worried.
Can I show my funds from immovable assets like my properties(houses, cars, etc) & Provident Fund Statements etc ?

Thanks Again :)

yes you can. but its better to show income tax statements. imo, it makes more sense to show that you (your parents) can earn money to support you while youre studying, rather than having to sell their house to support your school fees

but for the record, showing them enough funds for the first year of study is sufficient. almost all my friends just did that and they were fine…

Thanks for the reply.

I hope you guys can understand what kind of pressure am going through right now :(

EDIT : My parents have incremental income so tax returns of previous 2-4 years will show lesser pay, compared to the pay they get now. Anyways, will that be a problem ?

???
