I'm a junior and got a 2160 (730,720,710) for my first time on the January 28th SAT. I want to improve my score by about thirty points in each composite (shooting for an overall 2250).

I was wondering a) if I should take the SAT as soon as the April 1st date - I have APs in may and am really busy in the fall, and want to apply ED and b) what I should do in between now and then to improve my scores.

Thanks.

bump...................

sirgawain, definitely take the SAT again and shoot for 2300. It's good that you're a junior, because you still have time to get a great score. To improve your score, just read alot of novels, and do the practice tests. That's what I did, and I earned a perfect ACT score. It's about test-taking and it's not really all that academic of a test. 2160 is okay for now, but aim to get higher. I take it that you're going to apply to Ivies and if I'm correct, then you're going to need as close to 2400 of an SAT score as you can get.

Looking through your past posts, I'd say your score right now is good for UVa, W&M, Notre Dame, and Amherst. Harvard and Princeton will be reaches, but aren't they for everyone? If you're shooting for Amherst ED, I'd say you have a good shot. If you want to take the SAT again, take it in the fall next near. Don't forget you have to take SAT II's- I'd take them this spring while the material is fresh in your mind from studying for AP's.

Take the SAT at least once more, see what you can do.
