SAT and Essay.....

Two questions. I retook the SAT yesterday. My scores weren't terrible, 1910. my question is does it really matter if you only improve slightly. Say i only score 40 points higher. I know its a little better, but as a transfer student does it really make a difference?

2nd question. Pretty much every school asks for an essay on why you want to leave your school and come to there school. Well in certain cases i have many reasons. All kinda coming together to really cement why i want to go to there school. Some reasons are big, some are small. Would it look too desperate trying to show 6-8 different reasons why you want to come. I mean because when I compare my school and theirs it honestly comes to everything i look at makes me want to go there, but i dont want to sound desperate. should i just stick to the main points?

Your scores are much more important if you’re a sophomore transfer. A marginal improvement will probably not make much of a difference, but it’s certainly a positive.

Focus on two or three big reasons and be sure the crux of your essay deals with academic objectives. Community/social issues are important, but remember that colleges are in the business of selling degrees, not day-camp memberships.

thanks. you make a good point on the colleges selling degrees. any other thoughts?
