Is it true that some schools (UC's in particular) superscore your SAT1's if you take it 3 times? I heard this from my tutor and it just seemed bogus to me. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks

the "official" word, is yes, all schools are supposed to choose the best of all administrations, and the screening is done by clerical staff before the actual admissions counselors see the package. i'm of the (old? haha) school that wouldn't want to show i took it 3 times. also, SAT reports clearly tell the individual test-taker what, if any they'd gain by retesting.

UC's as in University of California use the highest scores from a single sitting, NOT from multiple sittings. A lot of privates use highest from multiple sittings.

supposedly, yes.

Your tutor is wrong to mention the UC colleges in this context. As correctly answered above, the University of California system considers single-sitting scores. Most privately operated colleges consider scores section by section.
