SAT book advice for starting students

Hey guys, I'm going to be tutoring a bunch of juniors this summer and although I'm confident in my abilities to teach the math section well, I am "naturally" just good at math and I never really used a review book. Just practiced constantly to end up getting an 800.
However these kids are pretty weak in this field (500's low 600's) and I would like to start a review book and go over the core topics before tackling on some BB questions.

I've done a bit of research and I found that grubbers was a good book for <650 scores. Can you guys give me some more inputs? I don't want to waste time. On the other hand, I don't want to use something like Barrons 2400 either because the questions are overly difficult and useless at this preiod of time...

For CR section, honestly I was pretty solid with the vocab section only using DH 1,2. How about the reading passages? Should I just have them do the ones from the blue book? I don't really see the point of getting a review book...since it's something you're either good at or not :p (If there's any really good books, feel free to recommend!)

AND lastly, what kind of books are there for writing? and for practice, just the blue book should suffice? That's all I've done and I managed to get a near perfect score since the questions tend to repeat!

Very long post! Thanks for the help!

My son is relatively good at math (but not good enough to score above 700 without prep). While we haven’t used Grubers, I have really liked Outsmarting the SAT. I also really like the PowerScore program that has all the math problems from the first 3 BB practice tests divided by type of math. This has really helped us hone in on what my son’s weak areas are.
