Studying the SAT Sections individually

I read through the Blue Book once and have finished almost half of the tests. Are there other books that I should purchase to study and practice from to achieve an high score? I'm thinking about buying Gruber's SAT Math Workbook for the math section and Direct Hits for vocab in the critical reading. Can anyone confirm the usefulness of these books, and are there any recommendations for books in critical reading and writing? Thanks!

I approve of Grubber’s for math and direct hits, and many would approve of them as well. The thing about the CR section is you need to find your a strategy that works for you, whether it’d be through strategies through prep or coming up with it on your own.

Are there any complete SAT guides that you’d recommend? (Like Barron’s SAT 2400)

I am a big fan of Powerscore’s Math Bible and just started their Reading Bible. So far, it’s pretty good but I’m only through the sentence completion part. I also really like Rocket Review, but its out of print.

I’m rethinking Gruber’s right now. What’s the best book to get if I only miss the hard-level problems?

CR - College Board blue book on line (but pricey)
W - Silverturtle’s guide on cc, how to score a 12 in 10 days on cc (something like that), and hire a SAT W tutor for a few hours to grade your stuff
