SAT Center Horror Stories

this isn't quite a center horror story, but it's still a horror story.

i accidently left 10 blank on my math section, bringing down an expected 800 or at least 770+ to a 650.

there was only one bathroom open in the test center- the bathroom only had two stalls, and both of the doors in the stalls were broken

i ended up having to hold for almost the entire test...eh

When i first took the test last winter in October, I got kicked out. It was mostly my fault because I made the most childish error in thinking that everybody's SAT test versions were the same. Like i thought the sections were in the same order for everybody's tests. So when we started the 2nd section (right after the essay) most other kids around me were working on a math section but my section was a reading one.... so I skipped to the nearest math section and started working on it. My proctor saw me do that, became horrified, called the main supervisor person, and kicked me out.

I was mortified with shame, but I will never forget that day. Fortunately I still have one chance to retake it. I am glad nobody else has committed such a stupid mistake as I did so far.

ok this is ACT but it still counts.
I test on Sundays and the test was at a local University. We get there and the proctor said that the school was doing power checks adn that the building would lose power and we couldn't test under those conditions. he said we could MAYBE take it the next week...of course I was going to be out of town. Fianlly he just called the ACT people an we took it, crossing our fingers the lights wouldnt go out.
DRAMA! and all for nothing! It never even happened. We just got out way late

the testing centre i tested at wasn't ready until nearly 9ish so we didn't get out of there until 1 o'clock and i got moved around from one room to another..i had a stomachache in the middle of the test but becuz of it, i tried concentrating even harder..the proctor made us sit 3 feet away from each other but other than tat, she was alrite..

I got to my testing site like 40 minutes late...they didn't start for another 20 minutes until I got there....proctor couldn't say "molecular"....only 5 ppl in my testing site

There is a sloution for all these horrific stories:
The CB should just mail the tests to all the students (to their homes) and send a proctor to every home. that way all the students would be relaxed and never late and there won't be any confusion.
They might make the test a little more expensive but that is a small price to pay for much better scores

Do you have any idea how illogical that solution is?

maybe...but it's also illogical to expect us to get good scores with fire alarms and power outages.

My room got out about an hour after everyone else. The reason: Tons of kids forgot how to write in cursive. They kept saying, how do you write R? or I? Also, we had to wait for kids to call their parents to get their SSNs...depsite the fact that it doesn't matter if you put it or not. Plus a cell phone went off, plus another kid was accused of looking at his essay after time was called. Plus they left the doors open, so we kept hearing timers going off in other rooms when we were still working. Overall though, it wasn't bad. The cursive thing was kinda funny.

um, this question prolly doesn't belong here:
does it matter if you write (in cursive) or print on the SAT essay? i asked my proctor but she didn't know..

I think you're supposed to write it, but I doubt that anything would happen to your scores if you printed it.

EVERY time I took the SAT people always asked stupid questions about writing in cursive.

wel, maybe ppl aren't sure of what to do..shrugs..i printed my essay nevertheless, hence the rushing to squeeze in my last one sentence conclusion..

you can print the essay... it's the agreement on the back of the test about not discussing questions that has to be in cursive.

went to inner city newark. if you know anything about newark, you'd know that it consistantly ranks as one of the most dangerous (if not most dangerous :P) cities in America. The campus that I went to actually had a few policemen guarding the school!

Also there was a car crash right in front of the school during the middle of the test :P

phew, good to know. thanks VeganActress!

vegan, i don't think you have to write the agreement on the back in cursive. In the 6 times I took the test, I printed and I got my scores on time. same goes for the essay.

Well you certainly are supposed to write it in cursive; every time I've taken it the proctor has said specificially to do so.

Not according to my proctorS. they tell us to write it whatever way we want.
