Hey,
I am considering retaking the SAT. Although I had a solid old SAT score of 1480- 790 Math, 690 Verbal, my writing was a bit low of 640 (This was the SAT II Subject Test). I have 5 other strong SAT II scores (720,790,790,800,760), but I really do not mind to retake the NEW Sat for the sole purpose of increasing my writing score.
Thus my question is…do you think if I retook the NEW Sat to increase my writing score to say perhaps 750 or above, however, with the sacrifice of perhaps lower math and verbal scores, (I hear the curves are harsher), thus assuming I score 740 Math and perhaps 640 Critical Reading, DUKE will only collect my composite test scores from the two tests, old and new??? After all, this will be the first time that I will take the NEW sat.
I do not intend to pester with these standarized test questions as I have received advice on to perhaps just write solid essays or that my other SAT II scores are great that the writing wont be considered or even the fact that this is the first yera of the induction of the NEW SAT and that the process of writing may be a bit flawed and also the idea that 2/3 is english biased, affecting the minority, nonnative test-takers.
Thus, considering Duke Admissions, what would be your best suggestion. I kind of only have time to devote to the Writing Section rather than entire test because I will only have one time to take it before Early Decision (I will be taking it internationally and there is only one in November, not in Oct for me).
So, please any suggestions?
