I am an international student seeking US’s top universities. My SAT score in math is 800, however my English scores are pretty low, since I’ve never taken English literature classes, neither grammar classes. I’ve been learning English as a foreign language at school. However I will to redo the SAT to do my best in the English sections. On the Subject tests I’ve scored 800 on both Physics and Math Level 2.
Would my chances of admission be affected by my CR and WR scores?
@Argentina2017 would they however consider the fact that I haven’t taken any high level English courses due to the lack of such courses in my school? Would it be reasonable to excuse my low scores through my application’s aditional information section?

Nope, sorry. That’s not how it works. The most selective schools take only the internationals that they think can prosper, even in required humanities and social science classes.
@marvin100 is 100% correct. In addition, there is just no way that you can phrase this in the add’l information section that will not come off as whiny.
The language of instruction for US universities is English. Top universities will expect that its international applicants will be able to perform well in all classes at the university.
And there are plenty of internationals who can put up huge scores in SAT CR and W. I teach in Seoul and there are a couple dozen 2400s in this city alone.
I am taking the TOEFL and I’m sure that I’ll do better than 100, which is the minimum score that most of the colleges recommend. MIT doesn’t require me to submit SAT scores, they do however prefer my TOEFL score as an alternative. That’s why I thought that maybe other colleges, even though they require the SAT, wouldn’t stress that much on my verbal score. Anyhow thanks for your kind advice. I’ll try to do my best at CR and WR next time!
