I'm struggling with the long passages (especially the ones where you have to compare two long passages) in the Critical Reading section of the SAT. By biggest issue is time. I try to read almost all of the passage and pick up on the key facts by underlining/writing quick notes, but I run out of time. Am I just not a fast enough reader? I've tried some other methods as well such as just reading the first and last sentence of each paragraph. This saved me loads of time and was helpful in some cases, but really hurt me with some questions. Any suggestions on how to approach the long passages? Please don't just say you need to read more because I have read a lot and I still have trouble and now I'm in a bit of a time crunch.

You don’t need to read them THAT carefully. Just look at the questions before hand and underline any sections/ vocab words that they will ask you about. Then just read the passage once to get a general idea of what the purpose of it was.

Read the questions first to get an idea of what line number(s)/facts will be especially important. Then skim to get a general idea :)
