SAT Discussion for International Students-Diff test!

See thats what CC does to you. You get 1 wrong and its the end of the world :D

Edit: you just jogged my memory. It was about larvae and 5/8 of them die. How many mothers are needed to produce 100000. Answer was 400. I confirm :D

BTW I'm also from Canada. I was born in Halifax and lived in Ottawa for 6 years.

On the CR i kinda bombed it. Last time if i hadn't canceled i would've had 800 on verbal for sure (too bad :( ). I got the redundant one wrong lol. Was that the same section as gerrymandering (gerrymandering was experimental)? Also do u have any idea if the dilapidation one was in the same section as gerrymandering?

OK guys, I'm off to Boston...I'll check on your progress tonight :D!

Have fun...and I'm sure y'all did great!

Have fun in Boston!
Atomic- i think dilapidation went with redundant, and gerrymandering was in a different section though i could be wrong!

1 locust lays 200 pods w/ 200 eggs per; 5/8 eggs survive, how many locusts for 100,000 survivors

(or was it 20 pods with 20 eggs?)

yea something lke that. It was 20 pods with 20 eggs i think.

20 pods w/ 20 eggs every 30 years... 5/8 of 20 is 12.5 eggs x 20 pods = 250; 100,000 / 250 = 400 :)

oh what about that math one that was like 3 consecutive integers can be multiplied to get -1, so what must one of the integers be? or something like that? i got 0...

and for the number line one where one of the points was -.25 and the other was -.75... and the answer was 1? did i do that right?

It was hard. I messed up the 1983, filled in 1993.

i hated this fcking test. Predicting under 2100 -_- (my practices were all 2200+)

Just took the test -- the math section was much more tricky/difficult than those in the previous tests. This test's math section is by far the hardest. I'm pretty sure this time that for us, the math section will probably have a lenient curve; it was sure harder than those who took it in the US!

hey for the machine vocab question
it was somehing like, the odds that coimplex machines ( something like proliferate ) are increasing because even if oine component work, it works fine, so complexity is ( forgot, but it was something good )

what did u guys get?

a also, for the artist passage in the last section.
what does the author do arter talking about iceberg? i said something like challenging the niotion of greatness, other things didnt make sense
was your second answer something like 'amassing received ideas"?

lastly for the passsage, what was the characteristic of genius artist?
- work best alone
- transcend the life time

lastly, there was one vocab question about how this guy is never hesitant to do something about personal invection, but he ( blank ) the idea that people try to fight him after he makes some comments.

i got dispense and hated...was that one of the choices? but other choices definitely didnt make sene

thanks everyione

Okay I got tricked by 1983 ... I put 1982

For the math, the question was how many x-values can make 5x +3 larger than 10 and smaller than 300? The range was 2- 59, inclusive. That means 59 values right??

Yeah some of the CR was hard. GERRYMANDERING?!

Mmm I don't think it's transcend the life time

I was stuck between "work best alone" and "work quickly and easily". i think i put the latter, because Picasso (or something) sketched really fast, the the boy-artist with the sheep did so too.. But they were alone as well

^ i believe it was "dispensed ... detested," not "hated". I dunno. I put works quickly and easily because even though they may have been alone when the drew the pictures, the passage did not mentiopn whether their ability to produce work is affected by the presence of others.

the W was fcking hard. W is usually my favourite section, I took 4 practise tests and got 4 wrong total as a MAX, usually 2 wrong. for this one, I did much, much worse... slightly because after the essay, there was my first writing section..and I like to get math after the essay, or even CR, but not the SAME FCKING SECTION. gr. I fcked this test up. :( :( :( there goes stanford SCEA -_-

thanks for the reply guys haha
anyone have any idea about the complex machine vocab question?

God, please tell me the experimental one was the 6th section- the one with two passages about weatherman, was that the same one as gerrymandering?
I think i got that one right, but i messed up the passages so bad, the Luis Miguel passage was the BS, man.
Math was pretty easy, just missed one Grid- In, who knows whatelse....
Till when do i have to wait to find out which was the experimental?

wasnt that section kinda funky or was it just me??
Guys? HELP!!

For complex machines,

I think it's fail/redundant
Something like,
The odds of FAIL(ure) increased when a single mechanism controls a crucial part of the machine, therefore it is advantageous for it be redundant

IMHO, harder than the Blue Book tests overall. Lets hope the curve will be generous this time round.

hm peachjelly, the fail part perfectly makes sense, but no sure if redundant is an appropriate vocab....any other opinions?
