<p>Can someone review my essay and tell me what I should improve/build upon?

<p>Our leaders love to tell us that only victory will do, as if they are imparting great wisdom. They seek only to defeat the enemy, to achieve the goal. Yet many times a loss, particularly one that is hard fought, is more valuable than victory. We cannot live a life full of only victories, nor should we. The quality of our lives depends as much on how we manage our losses as on how we achieve our victories.</p>

<p>Assignment: Can a loss ever be more valuable than a victory? Write an essay in which you answer this question and discuss your point of view on this issue. Support your position logically with examples from literature, the arts, history, politics, science and technology, current events, or your experience or observations.</p>

<p>My Essay:</p>

<pre><code> Losses are almost always more valuable than victories because they pave the path towards success. A defeat serves to teach us our mistakes enabling us to learn from them. We gain more experience and knowledge from a loss than from a victory.

<p>Darwin’s theory of Natural Selection provides an apt example. With every death of an impotent individual, the species as a whole advances by conserving favored genes in the gene pool. The specie is succeeding as it adapts and learns from its losses. This phenomenon has played its course for many millennia to finally provide the epitome of intelligent life.
Losses are in essential deterrences that are absorbed by the brain to influence our future decisions. We can see examples of this in our everyday decisions. The reason why we choose a specific brand of cereal, item of clothing or a route to take is because our past experiences dictate us to.
Our victories are a result of lessons learned from our losses. We must learn to accept defeat and better ourselves from it. Only then we can succeed as individuals and as Homo sapiens.</p>

<p>3/6. time yourself, write more. Don’t force yourself to use big words, the ones you use sound forced, let them flow naturally. Also, your examples should provide more evidence, theres not enough for a concrete essay. But you definitely have potential to get a 5 or 6 essay.</p>
