Hey guys!! I have an essay here and I would like to know how many out of 12 or out of 6 would you give it. Thank you!

The majority is not always right due to the fact that rarely do people challenge the majority, making it accepted but not necessarily correct. In literature, an example would be George Orwell's 'Animal Farm' where everybody agrees with Napoleon even when he is without integrity. History also proves that the majority can be wrong, like Hitler's Nazi Germany. Finally, in the fields of science, Einstein proved to everyone that the speed of light is always constant.

Animal Farm depicts the main antagonist, Napolean, as the former dictator of Russia, Stalin. Only through the heavy usage of propaganda and lies did Napolean win the favor of the majority of animals in Animal Farm. Cunningly, Napolean oppresses the minority like Snowball by using them as scapegoats or even killing them. Without the right to a freedom of speech, everyone will side with the majority in order to feel that they are right and to save their own skin. This exemplifies that the majority could be wrong due to suppression or having no choice. Orwell wrote this novel in order to show its readers how Stalin behaved during his reign over the USSR, and it also shows that the majority can be fooled into thinking that what they are doing is 'correct'.

In addition to Animal Farm, a real life example of the usage of oppression to gain political power and support of the majority is Hitler. Adolf Hitler was the dictator of Nazi Germany before and during World War II (1930's ~ 1945). His great charismatic proficiency meant that he could easily persuade the average civilians of Germany to follow his orders. His exploitation of German anger and his usage of scapegoats convinced the majority to support him, thinking that their decision is correct. Eventually, with his rise to power, Hitler could use his SS (Secret Police, Gestapo etc.) to suppress any negative thoughts against Hitler. This eradicated any form of hatred thinking towards Hitler and through this did he convince that Germany and himself were correct.

Last but not least, paradigm shifts can occur whenever, just like when Galileo told the world that the Earth orbited around the sun or when Einstein presented his theory of relativity. Through these minorities did the thinking of the majorities change proving that the majority's thinking is not guaranteed to be absolute.

Throughout the course of human history, it is clearly shown that, indeed, the majority can be wrong at times as much as they hate to admit it. People are afraid to embarrass themselves and admit they are wrong; they feel safer with a larger group. However, this is not always the right decision. The majority can definitely be wrong sometimes.
