What is a solid SAT score for an athlete looking at HYP and penn, first taking was a 2050 but I know I can improve. What is a minimum score and then a solid score?

Hi Everton

What sport do you play

What year do you graduate

What’s your gpa / class rank

How well do you do in your sport/how high is your team ranked/how was your last season

Soccer
2014
3.96/ top 5% idk exact number
I’m decent, not outstanding I guess, hard to judge yourself… Top in state, regional winner, national cup runner up, solid colonial league season

Your GPA sounds great! Congratulations, you sound like a really good student.

As for the sats, Well, here is the short answer … If you are 2014 for soccer I am pretty sure you should be in contact already with coaches who will be able to give you the most honest answer for their program if you are at a level where they feel you are recruitable for their needs.

Otherwise you are applying not as an athlete but as a regular student who happens to play soccer, and the Ivies routinely turn down 2300-2400s and 2050 would be unusually low unless you have something else going on, like perhaps you are an under-represented minority.

I hope some soccer parents are here who can help you know where soccer recruiting stands on the calendar right now. GL

Edited to add: looks like KeeperDad had great advice on the soccer recruiting thread!

Thanks for the help! Does it become a detriment if my main ec is playing soccer but I’m not good enough to be recruited at the school? Assuming I reach my goal of 2250 would that really hurt me?
