I will be taking SAT on may 4th and I'm nervous. I need help bad. I'm so bad at this and have tried the book and everything but still struggling. Any suggestion please? I need to get around 1800+ and currently i have around 1500-1600. I wanna do well so I don't have to take the $600 courses from the companies but I don't have a choice... :/ suggestion is appreciated

Relax. Try not to get to worked up over the SAT.

Don’t get me wrong the SAT matters and is important for your future; however, its not the end of the world. Work your hardest wherever you go. Take advantage of every opportunity you can, and everything will work out great for you in your life. Try to be happy.

Remember, you are stressed because you care and caring is a good thing. Learn to embrace the anxiety. Your whole life you will have pressure. Learn to love it now.

I’ll try to give advice about the SAT. When you say you “did the book” did you just do the sections -TIMED- or did you just do sections and not go over your work.

You have to do the sections timed and go over your work to see what you did wrong. You do those two things, and I promise you your score will improve.

When you go over your work to see what you got wrong, look for patterns - do you always miss main idea questions? Inference? Geometry? Are you getting sentence completions wrong because you don’t know the vocab, or you couldn’t understand what the sentence was going for? Just looking at what you got wrong question by question or even section by section won’t help; you need to see where your weak spots are so you know where to focus your attention.

Also, you should do multiple timed practice tests (as many as possible). Besides “the book”, also try other books. Make sure you go over the answers to learn those you’ve missed.

I took a class and that helped raise my score by a few points. Have you tried looking for a private tutor? You can ask your school guidance counselor if he/she knows any good private SAT tutors, and if they are good the tutor can help pinpoint your weaknesses and help you to succeed.

Believe in yourself and work hard. Whatever you don’t understand, read about and learn until you do understand. It is possible to do very well on the math section by learning math. CR and writing are harder but again maybe a private tutor could help :)
