SAT II Biology - 9th grade

Having just gone through the college process with my older son, I am wiser now - I think. My 9th grader is preparing to take the SAT II in Biology but I am worried that the class didn't prepare him well and that he is still immature. Since he is likely to apply to a science orinted program/college, should he wait and take a science from a latter course or take Bio now? How difficult is the bio - he is a good kid but not even thinking about college. Suggestions?

I think the introductory bio course in most high schools do not cover nearly enough material for the SAT II exam in biology. But it is rather easy to prepare oneself by reading review books and more advanced biology textbooks, such as the Campbell textbook. The SAT II Biology, after all, is almost entirely memorization of facts.

Is AP Bio offered at your school? Does he plan to take it? If so, wait.

dualityim is right. the intro doesnt cover the whole thing. Bio i hear is fairly easy. just get a review book and study and you should be fine

Thanks, for the advice. It seems early to be racking up SAT IIs - hate to see a poor score from 9th grade on the ultimate transcript to colleges.
