SAT II Chem Question

Next year I will be a senior and taking AP Chem (considered 2nd year chem at my school). I took 1st year my sophmore year, but as a result of scheduling conflicts, I am not in AP Chem. I aced chem, and am fairly quick at picking up new concepts. Since I have to review for AP Chem anyways, would taking SAT II Chem my senior year be a viable option? Will studying a textbook for Chem, one for AP Chem, and a SAT II Study Guide over summer prepare me well enough to take the test fall of my senior year and do well? If so, which books would you recommend?

I'm not sure where I want to apply yet; do many schools require 3 SAT II's (as opposed to two, possibly making this a non-issue)?

Thanks!

I was in the same position as you. I took the chem SAT in december and got a 780. Of course, I prepared like crazy for it using the kaplan review book.

Definitely. I was 3 months into my AP Chem class when I took my SATII and I got an 800. I prepped non-stop (and I literally mean non-stop. Think 14 hours/day) for 3 weeks with Barron's and PR and I can't put into words how valuable those books are. Definitely the best books you can get for this test.
