I did not do well on my physics sat II, only got 680. and I have very high standards. Will it have a great affect on my probability of getting into a good college? if it does, what should I do?

Well define what you mean by "good college". Personally I think a 680 is a very good school as well... I don't think it would hurt your chances unless you are planning on majoring in something physics related and/or applying to a most selective school.

if you are applying to like an ivy or mit etc.. then retake it, since the curve is good and you might probably do better. Or if you already have three scores over 750+ then don't bother.

What are you planning to major in? If it's not science, don't worry about it. If it is and you can do better, then it wouldn't hurt to retake.

thanks for the advices.
I am planning on doing a biology related major. so maybe a physics grade would not hurt my chances.
...I hope...

standardized test scores all depend on what colleges you are applying to

regardless of what you plan on majoring in, a 680 just won't cut it at the Ivies, Stanford, MIT, and other Ivy-caliber schools

Take a look at the SAT 25th-75th percentile ranges for the colleges you are applying to. Usually applicants only take the SAT IIs for the subjects that they do their very best in, so the percentile ranges for SAT IIs are slightly higher than those for the sections of the SAT I.

Finally, a 680 is the 56th percentile, and for most "good colleges" that might require a retake...

there are plenty of great schools with admission rates of 30% that a 680 score is just fine. applying to a school with a 10% or less admission rate is applying to a roulette wheel.

all these figures are heavily manipulated and represent only what is wanted to be disclosed. Many a decision is made in building a community that totally ignores a one hour or four hour test.

Did you take the bio test?
