My school has a very rigid class structure, you don't elect to take higher level or advanced classes. After my three years I've only taken Algebra I, Geometry, and Alg II and Trig. I feel this background will only prepare me for Math IC.

However, looking at Stanford's website today, it said that it prefers its applicants to take Math IIc if possible. Should I try to self-study IIc this summer or simply take IC and hope they consider thats all I've learned? If it matters, I'm appyling to other top schools like Yale.

If you think I should take IIc, whats the best book to buy to self-study?

Barron's covers everything and its questions are ridiculously hard compared to what's actually on the test. It's generally agreed to be one of the best if not the best for IIC prep. A book full of practice tests by Rusen Meylani is also popular.

Also, I learned about nothing in my precalculus-equiv class,s o I used Schuam's Outlines for Precalculus. Pretty good with lots of practice problems.

Get Barron's. You will find its review incredibly comprehensive and its practice tests ridiculously difficult, but if you want an 800, that's the way to go.
