SAT II Math Level Two May 2012

the graph was basically (0,-2) for the imaginary jawn forgot which letter it was tho

we should compile an answer key somehow xD i can’t afford to get another one wrong :(

the imaginary one ended up being -2i. The polar one was (.5, pi/3)

just plug in… answer was (.5, pi/3) in radians of course…

Ok i have no clue how to do polar crap.

I though r signifies the distance from origin. (.5,pi/3) is not on the graph of rcostheta

(1,pi/4) is because cos of 45degrees is rt2/2 and the distance of the point from the origin is 1.

With (.5,pi/3) cos of pi/3 is .5 so the x component is .5. But the distance from the point along that angle on the unit circle is not .5. Therefore r cannot equal .5.

*** im lost lol

Nd is a 770 (low estimate) bad for ivy league? Im not trying to be an engineer or anything.

@YoungDerivative, don’t worry there’s no distinction between a 770 and 800 they are both good, 770-750 is OK and less than 750 is a retake. For ivys at least.

For the find the number to make the mean and median equal, this discussion said that there could be two answers 6.5 and 11. The question asked for INTEGER, and 6.5 is not an integer, therefore the answer is 11.

Thanks warton. I really dont want to cancel bc i took chem and I think i got an 800 lol

3 wrong, and 2 omit…would that be an 800? :confused:
and what about 5 wrong and 2 omit? D:

^ First is probably an 800; second is probably a 780-790.

What about 5 wrong, 0 omit?

it specifically said only 1 of the colors was leading.
I think it said red had to be in the front

@koreaneddy312
@bart2385
@YoungDerivative

Wait…

this is giving me a heartattack…

all of my friends got (1,ㅠ)…

T_T

Thats wrong. cos of pi = -1 not 1

if that were right then all the other ones in the third quadrant that worked would be right as well. and you cantt have more than 1 right answer

Since everyone is asking for a compiled list, I tried to put together the answers that people agreed with the most per question. Yes there are still some discrepancies, but we won’t really know until May 24th so just hang in there.

f(4.7), where f(x-1) if x is greater than 1 and f(x) if x is equal to or greater than 0 and less than one → answer: 0.7

intersection between ellipse and y=x → answer: (3.12, 3.12)

given the diagonal of a small cube (1.414) find the volume of the large cube made of 27 of the small cubes → answer: around 27

function f times function g produces how many zeros → answer: 6

birds on the island → answer: 6000

4, 5, 8, 8, 12, and an unknown integer → answer: integer is 11

rate of taxi (or telephone; it differed from test to test according to some) → answer: $1.25 + $0.75(x) where (x) is the smallest integer greater than or equal to x

r = cos(theta) → answer: (0.5, pi/3)

surface area of the cylinder → answer: 6(pi)(r)^2

number of triangles formed → answer: none

(x^-2m)(x^m) → answer: 1/(x^m)

arrangement of 8 cars with two in set positions → answer: 6!

standard deviation of the student’s score when compared to the rest of the class → answer: A (no one has posted a number)

x^2 +4 = 8 logic problem → answer: number 2 only (choice B)

That’s what we’ve talked about there. Hopefully I didn’t miss anything.

Im saying (1,pi/4). Its the only logical one.

@youngderivative - it’s (0.5, pi/3)

r = cos(theta)
0.5 = r
pi/3 = theta

Just plug in and you’ll see that they are equal.

what were the answer choices for that one again?

Bro the equation is x=rcos theta

(.5,pi/3) DOES not work. .5 is r. Pi/3 is theta.

Its (1,pi/4)
