SAT II Math Level Two May 2012

@qqwang the answer was 11

Did anyone get the question about the birds migrating from island X to island Y? Like 20% go from X to Y and 15% go from Y to X and the total is a constant 14000 or something.

^ That answer was 6000.

I guess all we can do now is wait. Good luck, everybody!

i was so worried about matrices and there were no questions on that…
whats the curve like?
i skipped like 12, my stomach was REALLY loud cuz i didnt eat anything and i kept making noise… i couldn’t concentrate and i felt like i was bothering everyone :(

I wish there were matrices questions; I studied pretty hard for those. There was a lot of stuff that wasn’t covered. It seems like functions and trig dominated this test. Lots of geometry, too.

Yeah no questions on vectors either. I felt like the only real “advanced” math topic on there was polar coordinates, the rest was just a harder version of math I.

guys, dont let this thread die! I am contemplating cancellation…how does score choice work? Can they see that you took 2 attempts, or do they only have a record of whatever score you send?

dont worry. as long as you didnt bomb it; (lower than 750) then you should keep it. It shows that you are comitted to working harder and strive for perfection. As to your question, yes they see both but only colleges that don’t accept score choice (Stanford) while others that do you can send in whichever you want (Duke).

Ok thanks a lot Wharton. Just a quick clarification:

So my first choice is MIT (Which, thank God, is score choice.) However, does this mean that MIT can see that I took two attempts but they only receive one score, or do they only see a score and then assume that I took one attempt (when in reality, I may have attempted it twice?)

Yeah, def MUCH EASIER than Barron. It was similar to the OG math workbook and Princeton review. But I was still a bit worried before the test, though I’ve heard many people saying that Barron’s is so NOT real. Now I’m thinking, since the curve’s really friendly, Barron could be a waste of time and Princeton review and the OG are enough.

people who scores 650 in barrons , what do you think will get in actual test?

^ probably 730+

Hmm, I was scoring thereabouts, a little higher, maybe, and I’m looking at anything from a 700 to a 750, with a little luck.

I think you can expect a 800 or at worst 750+ if you get a 650 in Barron.

guys im really contemplating cancelling… i know i have 4 omit and 1 wrong so far… should i risk it?

With a little luck, that’s an 800. Why would you want to cancel?

tigerman20
Rosaline

then i got 700 in sparknotes and princeton, probably on the real test somewhere in the 700 will be my score…

I better have gotten 750+ or I’m going to cry! I omitted 2 and I’m just going to guess I missed 5-10 because of simple mistakes. I am so worried it would suck to have to take it again!

@ Rosaline (& anyone else who may know): Would you recommend NOT studying Barron’s? If so, what prep book would you recommend?
I’m taking Math II in June and I already got the Barron’s book but I don’t think I can start preparing until after APs finish.

Anyone remeber what the equations were for the distinct zeros question??
