I'm going to be a sophomore this year, I'm taking Precalc, and I've read that the test only goes up to Precalc in its content, so I'm assuming at the end of the school year would be best?

I've been reading through a bunch of SAT II Math 2 threads, and it seems that the questions tend to be pretty basic. I read about some people not being able to read a box and whisker plot or remember basic geometric formulas (lol), but then I realized that a lot of the material is stuff I learned a while back, so I'm assuming the only reason that this test could possible be difficult is because many don't remember the material right away?

And I guess while I'm making this topic, perhaps there is a suggested prep book?

the test might be difficult if you haven't had precalc yet. So i would suggest taking it June of your junior year or october of your senior year. Or you could take the math level 1 test right now if you are ready. For books, everyone seems to sugggest Barron's for the level 2 SAT math.

I believe what the OP was saying, is that he is taking Precalc Sophomore year, and is planning to take Math II at the end of that year, right when he has finished precalc.

I also agree with the OP that this is appropriate timing. And that yes, a lot of people's biggest problem is not remembering old stuff off the top of their head, because many take Math IIc after already having started Calc, etc.

I think it kind of depends. I do think I waited too long to take Math Level 2...I didn't take it until the November testing date of my senior year, when I was already in Multivariable Calculus. On the other hand, I don't think I was ready at the end of precalc...I took the SAT I at that point, and I "only" got a 720 on the Math section, so I doubt that was a good time for me to take the Math II. I wish that I had taken it in May of my junior year, instead of Math Level 1, which I only got a 730 on. I didn't take it at that point because that year the May testing date was right in the middle of AP testing and I had 3 AP tests that week before the SAT, but the curve is much more generous on Math Level 2 and I was already more than qualified, since by that point I had had BC Calc.

I got a 770 on the Math Level 2, btw. If that seems low for someone who was already in Multivariable, all I can say is that I am MUCH better at Free Response math problems than multiple choice, for whatever reason.

The official study guide was much easier than the real test I thought. I would have time left over but on the real one I went up to the end but I still got an 800. I took it towards the end of Calc BC even though there isn't any calc on it.
