***SAT II Math October 2016 Discussion Thread***

So nervous!

anybody got their scores yet? The site was under maintenance a while ago but then I just logged in to find no update :frowning:

my friend says they’ll come out around 5am?? agh more waiting

Usually scores come at 2 AM

800!

800!!! IM SHOCKED

800 too!! omg we all got perfect scores lol no wonder it’s like 80th percentile

I got 770 in Math 2 and 760 in Chemistry today

Any advice if these are good scores to present to top schools ? thanks

800 as well! Congrats to everyone else.

@Mimic17 760 for Chem is good enough but I think 770 for Math is borderline troubling considering 800 is only 80th percentile nationally. It’s not bad enough that you MUST retake, but depending on the program you’re applying to, perhaps think about retaking if you’re confident you can get a 800 in the next go.

@blu5959 if this test were administered to the general public, our percentile would be much, much higher. An 800 is impressive regardless of the percentile

I can see my D in 9th got a 790, 98th percentile, on Math 1 but there are no other details. Does anyone know if a hard copy score report with more detailed feedback will be mailed to test takers? (For example, with number of items missed?)

My son got an 800 too but he is in the 80th percentile!!

800 too  I was expecting like 770

800! congrats to everyone!!

Got a 740. Is it worth retaking for MIT, Carnegie Mellon SCS (ed, requires ALL scores)? Am registered for November, but haven’t studied since October test. Have a week until November test.

So I’m pretty bummed. I got a 780 and was really hoping/needing an 800. I’m applying early action to a very selective school (ivy) and I’m wondering if I should send it or not. I have an 800 on sat 1 math, but I don’t know if this 780 will hurt my application, especially as a potential BSE (engineering) major. OPINIONS???

Since you are an engineer major, an 800 is preferable to a 780, but nevertheless, 780 is still a really good score. I heard some ivy colleges say that anything above 750 is competitive but i’m not sure if it depends on the major. Best of luck

congrats everyone

No Ivy League school admits by major.

IMO, the jury’s out on that one. Regardless, I highly doubt that if an applicant gets rejected for a 780, that he would have gotten accepted with an 800.
