Got my SAT II scores back today (just like everyone else), and got a 740 in Literature and a 760 in US History. I'm retaking USH, because I know I can score better than that, but I'm not sure about Lit. I've heard you need a 750+ for top level schools like Princeton, but I know Lit also has the worst curve of all of the Subject tests. Will admissions recognize the percentile (92-ish) as well as the scores?

Both those scores are fine. I wouldn’t retake either. If you could augment them with a strong math or science score, that would help your case. In any event, if you aren’t accepted, it won’t be because of your SAT IIs.

Good luck.

* Edit to add: I just looked at your chance thread from a month or two ago. You appear to be a well qualified applicant. Apply to a broad range of schools and you’ll have plenty of good options.*

92nd percentile is pretty bad for schools like princeton, but anyway…
if you think you can do better then retake the lit test! your current scores won’t get you into the decline pile at princeton, but the higher you score the better it will reflect on you.

My SAT II scores were abysmal (640 for math 2, 670 for physics) and I still got in. SAT I and APs if your school offers them are most important. Princeton really does look at your app holistically. Ten points on Lit will not make or break you and as you’ve pointed out, Lit is pretty challenging for SAT IIs. Focus on maintaining good grades in your classes and extracurriculars.

Vanamo13: Do you have a hook?

Nope. I’m your standard lower middle class white girl. I do have an interesting hobby but I wouldn’t count it as a hook.
