SAT II Subject Tests Do Not Affect Admissions At All?!

"The University of Michigan does not require SAT IIs for admission. We require either the SAT I or ACT for freshman consideration. If the SAT II is sent to our office, it will not factor into the admissions decision. If the student is admitted, however, it may be used to determine placement. "

"SAT II exams are not required for admission purposes. The Undergraduate Admissions Office does, however, encourage students who have taken the SAT II exams to submit the results of these exams to our office. Although not used to determine admissibility, if a student is admitted the exams provide general information that may be useful to Academic Advisors and to Admission Counselors. "

Is this true? My 800 IIC, 740 Chemistry, 720 World History would really help (prospective engineer here).

Wow, are you kidding me?

If it says so on Michigan's Q&A service, then it has to be true. Ugghhh... What's with Michigan and its unconventional admission process? Michigan GPA......not even looking at senior grades..... rolling admission starting the DAY application comes out... not even considering SAT IIs for admission.....

The list goes on and on.

" If a student has been fully or partially home schooled, however, five SAT IIs will be required. "

Maybe you should be homeschooled for like a week so you can turn those in :p

polaris, it's hard to tell what the verdict is. On the application, it says, "Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), SAT II Subject Tests, and British Advanced Levels are optional." Below that are five slots for SAT IIs. I am totally befuddled by it all.

I just called U.Mich because I couldn't contain my curiosity. According to the lady that answered, the SAT IIs aren't REQUIRED, but will be CONSIDERED as supplemental information. Thank God.

Also, they said that as soon as they get your ACT or SAT I scores, they consider your application complete and start the review process.

O thank God.
Thanks for clearing that up. If I email them I'll tell them about the Q&A.
If I've sent my SAT scores multiple times (once when taking the SAT I, and twice when taking SAT IIs), do they already have my scores and can just dig it up and put it in my file if I request as much?
