I dont remember the choices, but I can get it right if you give me the choices.

EDIT:
also for one about the new deal and it was an except, the except was inflation because the New Deal was a deflationary depression. Think about it, a ton of money simply vanishes in the stock market and we’ve got all these goods. Little money and a lot of goods means deflation. So it was an except so the answer was inflation.

it wasn’t a codification of international law since monroe didn’t really have any force backing up his claim. i forgot what i put but i might’ve put declaration of principles…what were the choices again?

I’m certain that the spain vs portugal question did not specify the Americas, which I’m pretty sure makes it Portugal because of Prince Henry the Navigator. I’m taking AP Euro btw, just had to take US because there is no Euro :(

I put portugal becasue before 1492 they had looked at the horn of africa with Vasco De Gama and Magellan and they had the best navigation equiopment. they were they premiere navigating country, at least for a while.

I really don’t see why you guys would think Portugal is a logical answer.

1) This is US history, a question concerning a country that is barely related to US history and doing actions that are prior to US conception makes no sense.

2) None of the important Portuguese accomplishments dealt with America. Period. Neither North NOR South.

And.

Christopher Columbus Spain 1492: Reached Bahamas; explored Cuba, Haiti
1493: Established Santo Domingo
John Cabot England 1497/8: Claimed Nova Scotia, Newfoundland for England
Amerigo Vespucci Spain, Portugal 1499: Explored coast of S. America for Spain
1501: Explored coast of S. America for Portugal
Ponce de Leon Spain 1513/21: Explored Florida
Name Country Achievement(s)
Ferdinand Magellan Spain 1519: Began the first circumnavigation of the globe
Hernando Cortez Spain 1519–1522: Conquered the Aztecs in Mexico
Francisco Pizarro Spain 1530–1536: Conquered the Incas in Peru
Hernando de Soto Spain 1539–1542: Explored coast between Mississippi River and Florida
Jacques Cartier France 1542: Traveled St. Lawrence River to Montreal
Samuel de Champlain France 1608–1615: Explored Great Lakes, founded Quebec, established fur trade with Native Americans
Henry Hudson Netherlands 1609–1611: Sailed up Hudson River

This proves that Portugal did little or nothing in terms of NA. I don’t understand at all why they would ask a generic question…

It was definitely Portugal- the question did NOT specify the New World (I made sure of that during the test). Portugal explored Asia a LOT- that’s why Spain and the other European powers started exploration because they saw the riches that Portugal was acquiring.

During the first 3 years of the Great Depression, there was DEFLATION, not inflation!!!

Clay/Warhawks supported the War of 1812- I put answer choice (A). Something about expanding- they were outraged at impressment and all but I don’t think they were necessarily pro-French and sympathetic to the French Revolution. There was nothing about slavery or American Indians that led to their support of war.

What did you put for JFK and what he did after they found out Cuba had missiles?

Which gave a mandate to conduct war?- I put Gulf of Tonkin Resolution.

Spain was NOT influenced in its expansion by- finding new markets for its products? For some reason, Spain just didn’t strike me as a big producer. The rest made a lot of sense (and it was an except question)
