SAT II: U.S. History Discussion May 2009

I said education, and I thought it was Alice Paul (supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment), who called for equality between men and women. The passage was talking about letting “the women be virtuous and intelligent (educated) and men the same.”

Damn it, I couldn’t help but fill in all the answers. There were a few I guessed on.

Pretty hard test, compared to the CB ones.

I had that, but then I re-read it and it said “character of a man.” And something about the heart of a woman… So, I learned towards the moral crap. I don’t know. By that time, I wanted to kill myself.

Dagol the answer is Florida - it’s European colonization.

"what about the question like

“the articles of confederation was most effective in managing…” "

I put postage, but I’m pretty sure that’s wrong. I just happened to believe everything else the Articles did NOT have power over, so I eliminated them one by one then prayed it was postage.

“I put E for the reason the US entered WWI but I forget the answer”

I put that at first, but I changed it. It’s not true upon second inspection.

i think i put for the women one the “character” answer because of a sentence towards the beginning… idk tho

Monoclide, it was morals. IT was about cult of domesticity.

The vaccine is polio! Created by someone called jonas salk during the 1950s.

Thank you! What was the second question?

Darn, i got the polio wrong. What about the one with whitman that asked what he rejected. It was between mathematics or reason?

yeah i thought it was wierd a woman would support it, but they were forced to stay at home during the period so… why not?

Deism, he felt sick about the Math and Science.

JFK, McCarthy, and Nixon were all decorated WWII people.
the Iroquios split because of American Revolution, so I have no idea which tribes supported the Brits
I think inflation was the one the stock market did not cause, since prices in the depression were deflated

Who did Henry Clay and War Hawks represent??
and what was the least reason for imperialism?
and was it textile or women’s clothing for that one question?

^Walt Whitman was a romantic
deists belive that god created the world and then left it to natural law
and he was against reason, not math and science

"Darn, i got the polio wrong. What about the one with whitman that asked what he rejected. It was between mathematics or reason? "

It was reason because Whitman was a transcendentalist/romanticist who valued nature over reason at large.

The Legend, it was the question right before that Asking what he rejected, not the question with romanticism, realism, deism, etc.

li_ke92, u sure about Nixon, mccarthy, and kennedy. I said they were anti-commies.

Walt Whitman:

Rejection of REASON -> Astrology is not a sort of mathematics, nor are a whole bunch of things listed/mentioned. But they’re all things deducible, rationalizable, etc.

Romanticism -> Whitman is a romanticist writer/poet, plus, none of the rest are true. The only option after you eliminate the blatantly not true ones is “Pragmatism,” but that’s exactly what he’s rejecting.

yeah i also put morals/cult of domesticity.

i think i put mathematics for whitman. because if he was a romanticist they didn’t reject ALL reason…i think…

Reading through this thread, I feel uncertain now… =(.

That one I believe was reasoning.

I’m creating a 400s on Club. Wanna join?

Last quote is populist and no they were not hostile to blacks. They wanted to unite poor whites and poor blacks.
