SAT II - U.S. History

Has anyone taken the U.S. History SAT II? I would be grateful if someone could tell me a little more about it. Is it the kind of test where prepping would help a lot? It's been a year since I studied it. I, of course, remember all the basics, but I'm worried that there will be a lot of really specific questions that I've forgotten.

if it's been a yr prepping will help a lot. SAT II is a lot of facts (as opposed to AP focusing on general trends). Some of those details you forgot may haunt you on the SAT II if you don't prep for it.

Thanks. I was also wondering more specifically, if remembering dates played a big part on test. That was always the place I missed questions.

I took it last June, and did not do as well as I could've, solely because I did not know my facts well-enough. Study everything you can about US History, and may I recommend buying SAT II US History for Dummies (I swear it's a book!).

Yes, emgirl88 is correct, it's a book.

SAT II U.S. History for Dummies: <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/076457843X/002-2338693-3882430?v=glance%5B/url%5D">http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/076457843X/002-2338693-3882430?v=glance</a></p>

BUT I recommend-

OR

Kaplan SAT Subject Test: U.S. History: <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0743265378/qid=1126161870/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-2338693-3882430?v=glance&s=books%5B/url%5D">http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0743265378/qid=1126161870/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-2338693-3882430?v=glance&s=books</a></p>

Wow, I had no idea they had so many books for it. Thanks guys.

It was so easy, I didn't even need a book.

i took the ap course and the ap test before the sat II book
i used the REA book to study for the ap test and just reviewed
it for the sat II and i did well on both. so yea i recommend REA =)
good luck!

Why is my AP US History course 2 years? I am taking the AP exam next May.

Christine what did you get? I also have the REA book and am curious of the success it brought you. :D

well on the ap exam i got a 5
on top of the book my teacher prepped me really well ^^
and i got a 780 in the sat II

personally, i really liked how the book was organized
and highlight important stuff. just read through it
a couple of times and take the tests and stuff =)

I also used REA for review and practice tests. I am not sure exactly how much it helped me, because I had an awesome teacher, and I took good notes all year long, which I reviewed before both AP and SATII. I ended up with 5/800. I liked the book, but I don't think there is any real substitute for a good teacher and paying attention in class.

What's REA?

APUSH=4, SAT II=750 book=REA....i completely and utterly do not reccomend the Barrrons book it was extremely hard and when i took a practice i scored around a 500...yeah its dumb like that so dont get it!

Bump, anyone know what REA is?

REA is a book. Look on the cover. It's the company I think.

REA is Research and Education Association.

I took it the June of my junior year after a year of the class. The class didn't help that much. Buy REA (its incredible) and read through it. I did and I did really well.

i took US history sophomore year and took the test at the end of junior year. i just read through REA the week before the test and it gave me all the refresher i needed...i ended up getting an 800. Good luck!

If you have an AP book still laying around, that works fine for the SAT II as well
