SAT II World History - June 4th

suez canal was so that they could have like direct access to asian colonies, something like that or control over resources/economic dominance… somewhere along those lines

what are #s 45 and 46 could someone clarify that

45 is the question about the people in Americas before spaniards arrived.

46 was just a question about which people did not participate in seaborne exploration or something like that.

Suez canal was the economic interests.

I think I’ve got at least 11 wrong and 2 ommited too… I think the Suez Canal was something along the lines of trying to get cheaper route to Asia? Or like just to keep dominance so they don’t need to pay? Something like that. Going for a 750+. I just need to hope that I don’t like get 11 more wrong. I might even get an 800 if it is like the 75pts=800 curve in the last CB test.
@esmee I still feel pretty paranoid about myself. I’ve been calming myself down by beasting it up with a L96 in Black ops. I’ve barely done anything productive since the test lol, except read a textbook for an hour yesterday.

Anybody know the last couple of questions??

was the answer to the mercantilism question, countries should stockpiled gold or countires should allow free trade. I put stockpile gold but kind of doubted it.

Yep thats right. The suez canal was taken over primarily to open the faster and more economical sea route to asia by European powers. I think it was wrong on the list.

I have no idea. I don’t remember if I skipped it or guessed.

I thought the Suez Canal question’s answer was about economic interests, not opening a route to India.

On 26 July, in a speech in Alexandria, Nasser gave a riposte to Dulles. During his speech he deliberately pronounced the name of Ferdinand de Lesseps, the builder of the canal, a code-word for Egyptian forces to seize control of the canal and implement its nationalization.[29] He announced that the Nationalization Law had been published, that all assets of the Suez Canal Company had been frozen, and that stockholders would be paid the price of their shares according to the day’s closing price on the Paris Stock Exchange.[30]

The nationalization of the Suez Canal hit British economic and military interests in the region. Britain was under immense domestic pressure from Conservative MPs who drew direct comparisons between the events of 1956 and those of the Munich Agreement in 1938. Since the US government did not support the British protests, the British government decided in favour of military intervention against Egypt to avoid the complete collapse of British prestige in the region.

Damn really? But you could argue both ways right ut I think your right. Opened my CB book after remember the question. Looks like your right.

I always thought the interests in the canal was primarily for a faster trade route.

Idk I thought that’s what I put, but I guess that wasn’t an answer choice. By the way, the answer to the mercantilism question was something about balancing their trade. That’s mercantilisms base. To balance trade so that you export more than you import. And since a colony is part of the country sending stuff from the colony to is mother country is not countd as importing.

The answer to the mercantilism question was about countries stockpiling their gold, yes. It’s not so much a balance of trade as a “favorable” balance - export far more than you export. And don’t worry, mercantilism in no way encourages free trade or government restraint, so you’re fine, eagles94 :)

I thought one of the answers for the king solomon quote was central africa?

Also, what was the exact context of the facism quote, the Judaism spreading morals question, the mongols and Russia Renaissance and the exact wording of the cult of personality questions. What were the answers to the african country where ancesters came from, the Jainism question (i thought it was to prevent harm of other souls or smthing), and the franks/crusades question

For the mongols, they isolated russia from europe. The Franks one was the third crusades. The Jainism one, I put not to hurt other souls, but others put personal spiritual progression. Its one of the uncertain ones.

For the cult one, it was basically a picture of North Koreans worshipping a statue and the question was like, People in Totalitarian governmets tend to…

The African ancesters and the Facism quote I cant remember them but I remember them being on the test. Do you know the answer choices?

Im kinda surprised now at the number of people who say the subject is way easier than the ap. After taking the both, sat was far harder than ap. Guess they say its easier cause of there’s a big curve??

yeah that’s exactly what im wondering about, im sure i saw it but donno what i put or what the answer is. what about the king solomon quote? is it 100% that it’s East Africa? for some reason i thought i put central africa but tha does not seem to be an option

Also something about Judaism spreading morals??? (question56)

Ophir is supposedly not an exact location. When I looked up on wiki it says most likley in East Africa or India. Most people put East Africa but there is a chance it could be India. Anyways it says in the quote that they crossed the red sea which borders EA. By the way I put India.

I completley forgot about the Judaism quote but most people say its spreading morals.

@dudeguy1811 Central Africa was an answer choice. I didn’t put it though because I didn’t think King Solomon would send ships into the interior of Africa. I would think he would have his people travel by land. Therefore, I put East Africa, but it could also be India.
