how important are SAT 2 to getting in? are they a crucial factor in acceptance in the sense that there is a huge difference between for example a 650 and 750? or do they just want to see that you took it and you know it, meaning a 650 still shows that you know it. Personally I have a fairly strong resume but my Sat 2 scores are in the high 600s so I am worried. Thanks.

there is a big difference between a 650 and a 750... however i can't imagine borderline sat 2s keeping an otherwise strong candidate out of the running... but who knows

I'd say SAT 2's lend support to marks. A 4.0 coupled with SAT2's in the 600s is definitely bad (implies mark inflation). A 3.5 with straight 800's could be good (hard school - good , or mark inflation school - bad) 5's on AP could save you from crappy SAT 2's though.
