I got a 670 in math and 730 in US history. Any point in taking a 3rd if I can get (hypothetically) 700? i want to go to a UC and I know they only require 2.

You should keep your options open. All higher up universities usually require or recommend at least three. Try to go for a subject that you know you’re good at. I know that most universities on the east coast (HYP, Ivies, JHU, UVA, W&M) require three. Also, most schools in Illinois do as well especially the University of Chigaco. Go for three, just in case!

Its going to take a lot of extra studying but i do like to keep my options open. also about language tests… if you didn’t speak them at home ever will colleges factor that in? So unfair for people who already knew another language! (plus it really sucks for people who know another language but its not an SAT!)

Thispakistanigir, you are wrong. The only schools in the nation to require 3 SATIIs are Harvard, Georgetown, and Princeton (I think if you apply to certain majors, you only need 2 for Princeton).

oh. ok.
how do you think colleges look at language SATs for people that don’t speak it at home?

Yes its a good idea to show your fluency in a different language. Especially if it isnt a language that you speak at home constantly. Like if you are korean or chinese or something taking the chinese or korean foreign language SAT II does not show much skill. Even if you get an 800 its not so impressive because so many people do. For example.
However take a different language. and Good luck

monstor there are some other schools that require 3 as well. like John Hopkins and USC.
This website lists most of the schools and how many SAT II tests they require or recommend.

[Ivy West: SAT Subject Tests Requirements](http://test-prep.ivywest.com/sat-subject-test-score.aspx)

OK so they definitely see that i don’t speak it at home very clearly?

well what language are you thinking of taking?

Spanish. Either that or English.
Either of those will require A LOT more studying for me than math or history. So I’m wondering if it’s worth it or if I should let it be.

Wait english is not your first language?
the Lit test is one of the hardest ones I have heard

no english is my first… only? i actually think i’m just not going to take anymore. I’m much better off focusing on other things.

I’ve got 640 for Maths II and 680 for chemisty.
It is bad or what?
Should i retake?

it depends on where you are going. honestly sat 2s do not matter that much. i think 650+ shows you know the subject good and 700+ is solid. unless you want to go to an ivy i think you’re fine.

When you said language i thought you were talking about foreign language.
but if you are very strong in english and lit and stuff and you feel like you could do well on that test you should take it if you need another SAT II

Top schools are considering the SATIIs more important than ever before. It is arguable that at some top institutions the SATII holds as much weight as the SAT.

but I am thinking of getting in UCs, NYU, USC?

UCs only require 2. i know that for some people USC requires 3 and some its just recommended. But they are very important there. and NYU requires 2 as well
