Will UVA frown upon applicants who have not taken Sat IIs? I understand that they are only for placement, but I believe I could be borderline in the admissions process, and I have not taken Sat IIs. Will this hurt my chances since I have not taken them?

I've known people who have gotten in sans SAT2s. You should go ahead and take them, but not having them may not be a big deal.

I thought you have to take two SAT IIs to apply...

SoccerGrl- The SAT IIs are recommended, but they are not required. They are used for placement when you get in the University. I believe that that is their sole purpose, but if you get accepted to UVA and plan on attending, they are mandatory (to my understanding).

Yeah, SAT IIs will not matter much. They may look nice on an application, but it probably won't tip the balance either way. You just need to take them in the spring sometime if you're accepted.

i didn't take them and i got in so...but every person who is ACCEPTED has to take them, meaning when you get in its like congrats, make sure you've taken 2 SAT IIs. I took them after i applied and before i found out, so i checked the box on the application that said i was taking them at a later date, but even if you didn't do that i don't think SAT IIs carry any weight as far as actual admissions go.

Wait so if you take the SAT 2's you get to skip like the introductory classes and take the next level ones? What's the difference between them and AP Exams? Thanks

I'm pretty sure the AP exams give you credit while the SAT II's allow you to skip a class and be in a more advanced level but does not give you credit? I'm not sure though
