wait so does everything on the list look supposedly right?

omg, this critical reading was haaard… I really need at least a 670-680

i got -7 to -8 i think…i hope that would be like a 680-710. i rly need like 2200+ on this sat!!!1

hopefully my range is like this:
CR 680, but hopefully 700 exact…
M 780-790 i got -1
W 760-800 with hopefully a 10-12 essay

Wow, I gave up CR. Even if the current thread is almost accurate, I got like minimum 10 wrong. I’d just be happy to get something like 600~650.
Aren’t there any writting threads? There are too little data to predict my writting score. I just wish I can just hit 800 on Math and Writting (probably since the writting curves aren’t that generous I just wish a minimum of 700…), so I can work on CR and finish my SAT on March.

Man I’m getting paranoid cuz of that dam PSAT. The curve was ridiculous. Based on the college board blue book conversion table. I should’ve got something like 200~210, but I got 197. Especially the writting curve was crazy.

Can someone please tell me if our SAT scores match the blue book conversion table? I just wish the PSAT curve was ridiculous because there weren’t many questions, and the SAT scores will actually match the ranges in the blue book conversion table.

I’m getting paranoid by this thread… but I can’t stop checking…

I took the Oct 2011, Nov 2011, Dec 2011 and Jan 2012 SAT, and the CR for this SAT was definitely on the easier end, though whether a test is easy or difficult is all subjective. I suspect an average curve, if not harsh.

@ skyscraper I also flunked my PSAT. I got a 199, 1-2 points away from commended.
Also got at least 5 wrong on CR, probably more like 8-9. Ommitted 1 on math, missed 1 due to retardedness, so -2 = 760. Writing I thought was pretty nice, think I got around 700, so I can expect a low 2100’s. Not too good, probably taking it again in May/March.

Is the curve predetermined or later scaled to fit the results of test takers?

The more I read these threads, the more depressed I become. -___-

The curve changes every year and I think its to fit the difficulty of the test. So scores don’t change dramatically from one year to another. So, no not predetermined.

I think this CR curve will be lenient, Math will be kinda harsh, and WR will be kinda harsh.

I’m thinking that the curves will just be average for each section.

Dear chachaseeds,

So what ur saying is the SAT curve will not be as ridiculous as the PSAT curve? Am I right? If u took the PSAT Im pretty sure u know that the writting curve was totally insane. It gave me a writting score that was about 100 points (on the SAT scale) lower than I calculated from the conversion table. Im just wondering if the same thing can happen on the SAT or that ridiculous curve was just possible on the PSAT because it had fewer questions and etc.

@jimmypod

I will be happy if the curve is average. I just wish the curve won’t be like the one on PSAT As I mentioned above my writting score was like 100 points lower than what I predicted from the conversion table.

@ skyscraper I highly doubt the SAT writing will have that insane curve. I think it’s probably average - harsh. I really hope/think the CR curve will be very lenient, as I thought it was impossible. Math was a bit easier than usual, so I think -2 is prob a 760.

No way would the real SAT have a curve like the PSAT

The curve for the psat (when converted to SAT numbers) for writing would look like this
800
760
700

NO WAY would that happen on the real test! Don’t worry! The scores come out on the 16th and I’m sure that your score would put a smile on your face! They usually do…

(optimism)

Although I must say, math probably had a normal curve (nothing out of the ordinary), Writing probably had a normal curve (Really nothing out of the ordinary), and CR probably had a normal curve (some VERY controversial questions, but nothing really out of the ordinary)

Biological Clock (Q 15~24)
15. Whats the purpose of the article?
For this one the choice was actually introducing a theory and then ways that it WAS TESTED (this should make a lot more sense since it talked about experiments and other ways that it was proved in the past)

For the one about the biological clock tested 50 years later I put to test its validity to show that it didnt change through time. They knew about the phenomenon’s existence and found out about it but needed to test it’s validity and make sure that it was true, not necessarily “find” it.

So I guess it was right that if u took both the PSAT and the SAT in same conditions, ur SAT score will be like 100~200 points higher. I was mad anxious after I got a 197 on the PSAT. I was so embarrassed and baffled cuz I expected a mimimum of 200 and even up to 220.

@jamn010295

I think the reason why phenomenon/theory are in such dispute are because of the defininitions of theory and phenomenon.

Phenomenon:
A fact or situation that is observed to exist or happen, esp. one whose cause is in question.

Theory:
A supposition or a system of ideas intended to explain something, esp. one based on general principles independent of the thing to be…: “Darwin’s theory of evolution”

A theory is intended to explain something while a phenomenon is something whose effect has already been observed but has an unknown cause. The article made it clear that the biological clock was not a supposition, but an observation that was evident in everyday life. Hence, its cause was put into question. Was it daylight? Was it human contact? Is it independent of outside interference? How did it happen? etc.

I think the options were like
- phenomenon that was later developed
- theory that was tested

It will be decent to observe a 2 in the first number of the score that I receive.
I will be happy if I oberseved the number 1 after the number 2.
I will be ecstatic if I observed another 2 after first 2.
