I’m taking the SAT Literature subject test on Saturday and I keep getting 650-700 in practises and I really want 750+
I’m an International student (UK) and English Literature has always been a strong point for me. I found SAT Reading fairly easy and scored in the mid 700s in all my practises (still waiting to hear back for my final score though). I don’t understand why I keep doing so badly, I don’t have much trouble with timing and I understand the texts and terminology.
I got a 770 and studied about six hours. There are three parts to doing well, imo
The first is understanding the basics of a material-- literary terms that any review book can tell you.
The second is having practice and natural aptitude for literature analysis of passages and poems-- you don’t have to be a genius or practice every day, but personally, I have always enjoyed analyzing novels and poetry and therefore had lots of natural practice.
Last, perhaps most importantly, is understanding how to the SAT Lit (and SAT 1 CR) works. It’s objective; every answer can be found within the text. The SAT II is essentially the SAT I CR on crack, with more poetry. I would practice with official questions and practice validating your answers from the text only (The SAT Black Book is a good guide on this but it is for the SAT I).
Hi, meant to reply ages ago… Thanks for your help!
I followed some of you advice and came out with a 730, which was disappointing but it could have been so much worse…although I got a 790 in French on the same day which cushioned the blow a little!
