What if you got below average on the SAT Math? Like a 600ish, could you still have decent chances at getting in if you got very high on the other two sections (700+, 750+) or took the SAT Subject Math Level 2 and did very well (700+, 750+)?

For most colleges, it matters what you want to study. A modest math score can hurt chances for engineering or other math-related majors. However, if you are going into liberal arts, a modest math score can be offset by other credentials.

Villanova does not consider the Writing portion of the SAT, your score will be judged on a scale of 1600 , CR/Math.They do super score , so retake the test if you can improve the math score.
BTW , there are plenty of kids with low 600’s in math attending Villanova. Subject tests are not required , but scores in the 700’s in math will improve the application. They may wonder about any large disparity in math scores from SAT and SAT II.

But the writing is my best section lol

I want to go for political science and do have a strong background in history subjects. I feel that the Math 2 subject is math I have been learning more recently (pre calc and algebra 2) then the math on the regular SAT.

If writing is your best section , you can utilize that in your application by writing a superb essay!!!

Villanova in the past has not considered the writing because of a lack of historical data ,the section was introduced in March 2005. I think in the near future , Villanova will fully consider the writing section , with a subtle shift this year in their stance this year:
“The results of the SAT writing portion and ACT writing test will be considered when evaluating an application. However, the SAT critical reading and math or the ACT composite will be used as the primary test indicators.”

Good luck in your application , Villanova is a campus of very bright kids that want to be there! If you want to be one of those students , don’t be afraid to let them know.

I really want to be one of those students! I visited and knew it was where I belong immediately. I loved the people and the community feel!

What do you mean by letting them now that? Where is there a good place to mention it?

In your essay , by visiting , by meeting with an admissions staff member if they visit your High School or college fair , by asking your Guidance Counselor to let them know, by being sincere in any interactions with the school , by attending a class on an admissions visit. Use your imagination and communication skill set!

Villanova Essay Question:
One of the core values of Villanova, as an Augustinian university founded on the teachings of St. Augustine, is that student and faculty learn from each other. As you imagine yourself as a member of the Villanova community, what is one lesson that you have learned in your life that you will want to share with others?
