SAT May 2009 Math

they asked for tin not copper the answer is 1 for the tin/copper thing.

The ratio of copper to tin was 19:1 and 380 pounds of bronze was made. Therefore, 19x+x=380. x equals 19; and 19 would be the amount of tin. It was a really simple question.

In the inequality one, it said “The difference between A and B is not greater than 6” right? So wouldn’t the answer be abs(a-b) is greater than or equal to six?

^ was slightly confused by that one too…

Did anybody get 2.5 for an answer? I think it was the “how many cups of flower for 5 cupcakes” or sumthin…

@10jarsle: It was |a - b| <= 6 because if it’s NOT greater than 6, that means it has to be less than 6…or equal to it.

and yea i got 2.5 for the flour one.

i loved the question about gorilla and lion years :)

ohh yea that was (3/4)x right?

how about that one with the two patients and they both are given medicine at 10 AM and one is given every 6 hrs and the other is given again every 4 hours, at what time will they both be given medicine at the same time?

oh and there was a sequence one, like the next term is determined by halving the previous and adding 2. what is the fifth term in the sequence?

^ i think that two patients one was experimental.

the sequence one was like 4.5

Flour for cake making (1.5 lb = 3 cake, how much flour for 5 cakes): 2.5
Lion: 3/4x</of></x<2>

^^^
Two More:
Flour: 2.5
Lion: 3/4x

How did the area of the two triangles question go?

what was the flour one?

you had like a sideways kite, and it was divided into 2 triangles. You were given the numbers 4 and 3 for one triangle, and the hypotenuse (13) and one leg (12) of the other triangle.

^ the flour one was a grid-in i think like the 2nd problem. it was a proportion, and said you need this amount of flour to make this amount of cake or something, how much flour do you need for amount of cake…

oh, right. I remember.

^^^ okay yea I remember now. Thx.

did anyone have this one (might be experimental)
with the pie percentage chart and three sections (x, y, and z), and it asked about plumbers that were recommended?

sounds like experimental.

Nope it is probably exp.

If anyone remembers, could you try to restate what the question was for “calculus is wednesday.” I remember that my answer included the word “physics” but since you all got “calc/wed” i guess im wrong.

also, what would my score possibly be with -2 on multiple choice and -1 on grid in?
