SAT May 2009 Math

what is the answer for n+ *n by the way? and the 6-charcter as well? oh boy, i have shamelessly posted this post n times!

can someone confirm for me if the math section with the logic question that was NOT the question that had to do with classes and days(answer was calc on wednesday?) was the experimental one???

It was. I had calc and wednesday and CR experimental.

is the calculus and wednesday experimental? oh boy, i hope that one was not because i screwed up with the n+*n

The Calculus and Wednesday was not experimental (I had that one, and had a writing experimental).

was the calc on wednesday question in the section with grid-ins or the 16 question one?

OH!
did anyone have an easy question with baking or something where you had to set up a proportion?

^ Yeah, I had that one

^ I think for the baking it was 1/2 a pound of flour or sugar or whatever for every single pound. So would that make it 5/2 I believe?

I had an experimental math section because I had four math ones.
it was so much fun! the first two sections after the essay were both math, which made me happy, but one is probably the experimental? i’m not sure which one it was though, did anyone have that pie chart with the x, y, and z % and it was about plumbers?

Oh, and can a section with grid-in ever be experimental?

Yes, grid-ins can be experimental.

oh the one that got me was the x y chart, and it said (y - 1) is directly proportional to (x + 1)…what is b - a?

also, just another question. sorry, I’m new to this forum and a little disappointed I didn’t know about it before I took my sat’s. D= umm is it good to have an experimental section that you’re better at? does it have any impact whatsoever on your score?

b-a = 9. I don’t remember the numbers of the chart or I’d tell you specifically why but I remember something like 26-17.

How well you do on the experimental has no effect on your score per se, but having an extra section in, say, math can tire the math part of your brain and affect your performance on the math sections that do count. So in general, you want to get an experimental section in whatever subject you find easy.

Really I’d just rather a math experimental but in the 2 I’ve taken, I’ve gotten writing and CR. It isn’t that I find math easier, it’s just that I find the other two sections more tedious on my mind and my eyes. I get tired reading those long ass passages.

I’ve gotten math experimentals both times. The first time I didn’t mind, but the only reason I was retaking today was to raise my math score so I was a little unhappy getting math experimental again.

I agree getting a CR experimental would be brutal; I could do writing sections all day though.

one of the answers was 2(sqrt2) right?

^^ yea i got that for one of my answers.

I had CR experimental my first time gahh, it was deathh.
and Math this time, yay!

UGH i got the f(a) = f(b) problem wrong nooo, so what’s a -1 going to make my score?
did anyone have a problem where there were rectangles that were 1 x 2 and you had to find the dimensions of another rectangle whose area equals the sum of the areas of the little rectangles put together? maybe that was experimental…but i got 12 x 1 i think

snargaluff, i dont recall having that question so exp?

The question for that bolded inequality was something like xy=x+y while y>2. The only possible answer could’ve been x=0 because 1.4+3 =/= 1.4*3
