http://puu.sh/3C8tp.jpg

Why is D the answer, of?

http://puu.sh/3C8w3.jpg

The answer is D! But is it because before this,it said "exceptional physical properties" which is plural?

Why in the world is it "than" I thought it would be "of generating" to make it parallel with "to use"

Thanks guys! I hope this gives you some prep as well!

The “of” is the error because of is not a verb. It should be have instead. In the first sentence it is D because the sentence is showing possession of the voice, so it cannot just be Tom or Jim, it has to be Tom’s, or that of someone else. Without the “that” in the sentence, it would be incorrect as it would be like saying “The voice was Tom,” instead of “The voice was Tom’s.”

In the last question the sentence is saying it is just as important to do this… AS* it is to do this. You should not say it is just as important to do blank THAN it is to do blank, because that is not idiomatic language.

For the last one it is all about parallelism. (It is just AS important to recognize faulty parallelism AS it is important to recognize subject-verb disagreement).

For the third one you have to recognize that the second part of the sentence is referring to the physical propertieS (plural) when you get to D. The only way D would be right was if the sentence said “a diamond has an exceptional physical property (singular) that makes it…”.

plural = make
singular = makes

For the second one, it should be “have” not “of”. It sounds like “of” because in conversation we essentially say “would’ve”, but of =/= have.

For the first one, the sentence referred to the voice, not a person. I can see E being a good distractor for this one. Since it is referring to the voice of someone over the phone, you have to reference the voice (the voice OF someone else).
