**** SAT MAY 2014 DISCUSSION (US ONLY) *****

Writing was 800 with 80 raw and 9 essay
Math was -3 730
Reading was probably -2 800

@rick44 mine shows the percentile

@mindreader101‌ Bringing it up almost 200 points is awesome! I don’t see any harm in trying one last time, unless time/money/etc. is a major factor. If you’re still in school and have to focus on exams, maybe not, but if you have some time to just sit down and practice for a solid couple of days, then go for it.
When the detailed score report comes out on the 27th you can see what kind of problems you missed in math and focus on those too.
Good luck! :p

@sdalss thanks for the reply , definitely will try to improve . :D

Hey guys I have a question. So I took the may sat and did really well :)!!! But I am signed up for the June sat and so is it possible to switch the June sat so I can take a subject test instead? I’m happy with my score and see no reason to take the sat again.

First SAT (Last Fall): 670CR/680M/750W/11E = 2100

Second SAT (Now): 760CR/800W/720W/9E = 2280, so close

So with SuperScore (do colleges even actually consider this as your real score if they say they take it…): 760CR/800M/750W/11E = 2310

Anyone know if it’s worth retaking for top schools?

2400:) 9 on essay though meh

@Juggerz‌ yes you can. im not sure how but try calling college board?
@awesomekid‌ i would say dont retake because apparently top schools do superscore and even a 2280 in one sitting is really good. once you break 2250 the minute score differences dont matter as much

@Peachmarmalade what essay score did you receive to get an 800 in writing? I got a 790 with a 9 essay and perfect in MC, but a couple of people who posted (@axxaaa and @awesomekid‌) on this page seem to have gotten 800 in writing with a 9 essay.

Would be very thankful if someone PM me with tips on essay, W and CR.
got 1810, 4 essay (didn’t plan time and stopped mid-word in second paragragh) 540 W 590 CR and 680 M

@dabnag97‌ Both times I took the SAT I got 800 in writing. Perfect MC and 10 essays.

@yameee I got 730 writing w/ a 10 essay. When I write my essay’s I start with a topic paragraph that’s usually 2 sentences (First restate question, then write your thesis statement). Then I use 3 body paragraphs; totally made up stories. And talk about what you’re comfortable with! (I made up some BS about Robert E. Lee and then I talked Tim Duncan and Kwame Brown, who are basketball players). And I’m terrible at writing conclusions, but I usually just restate my viewpoint. Make sure you fill up both pages with writing.

Well the main points to getting a 10+:
3 body paragraphs
Made up information (unless you actually know a good example)
Fill up both pages

I got a 12 on the essay, no real examples and i had a made up statistic . It was 5 paragraphs and it used up all the space though. Will post on the 27th.

Honestly though, I think the main thing about it is not making it too formulaic. Restating the question won’t get you that many points, but rephrasing it and making it your own will. I tried the whole formula thing the first time I took it and got a 6 (total). Also, as ThanksIKnow said, LENGTH MATTERS. So does handwriting. And yeah those 5 indentations will probably help! No guarantees though, as essay grading is annoyingly subjective.

Lol I got a 580 on Writing with an 11 essay. Apparently most of the Improving Sentences questions I answered were incorrect according to my score report. WOOPS. At least I’m still cute.

I always avoided the Improving paragraph section because it was long and annoying. It came back and bit me in the ass. I got 3 writing questions wrong in total, 2 of which were improving paragraph questions.

Math - 2 wrong 1 omit - 730
Writing - 3 wrong w/ 10 essay - 730
CR - 9 wrong - 680

In case you’re wondering about the curves.

Anybody who wants to see the essay PM me

Does a more detailed report come in the mail that shows you which questions you got wrong?

@rick44 If you order the Question and Answer Service, you can see which questions you got wrong and the correct answer I believe. But it’s something you have to pay for. Without paying, the only thing you’ll see is what’s already online.

Hi guys!
