Hi everyone,

For summer 2010, I have tried to prepare myself for the SAT even though I am only a rising sophomore. The early bird catches the worm, right? However, I know, without a doubt, most of my friends will be taking SAT prep classes, tutors. It cost $2,400 for 80 days, 3 hours a day. On the other hand, I don't have that kind of financial support like others. So I study independently, but It is difficult because there are always problems I face that I can't figure.
I have a Barron's SAT math book, Word Smart for Vocabulary.

Are there any recommended workbooks I could get, but for a reasonable price.

From,
jaefosho

how about the Kaplan Review for Vocabs?

Direct Hits, both volumes for vocab

Definitely get the 2nd edition of the College Board BB. There are free explanations on the College Board for the practice tests and the book only costs about $13 on Amazon.com

Direct Hits + 2nd edition of the College Board Study Guide.

Read silverturtle’s guide, you will know everything about the SAT after it. That’s all you need. Barrons, PR, are all unnecessary. Prep classes are a waste of time and money.

Good luck

Read Xiggi and Silverturtle’s Guide. Follow those very inexpensive prep plans and you should do just fine.

where can i find the Xiggi and Silverturtle’s Guide,
link please?

EDIT: nvm, found it ._.

Look under “the best study books” guide and get one book for each section and then another for practice

jaefosho,
Wellcome to CC=)

What is your current score? What is yours week points? If you don’t know do Diagnostic Tets and it will give all report. Well, ok, to get a high score you must built step-by-step preparation plan.(it depends on time(when you would like to pass your first/last SAT)). So, in general words, here is general plan:

*Read CC topic about Books(in “important marked” topic, read carefully and you will find)
*Buy The Official SAT Study Guide by CollegeBoard(aka: BB)
*Direct Hits both volumes(available on amazon.com)
*In dependence of your week points buy BARRON’S Critical Reading/Writing/Math Workbooks, respectively.
*Subscribe to Official Online Course(great practice tool provided by CollegeBoard, but small thing you need to print it)
*BARRON’S SAT 23rd(5 practice Tests(full explanations)+detail Math reviews(all topics)+about 500 practice exercises+3500 word list+Hot Words+High Frequency+All grammar review+100 sentence complition+etc)
*BARRON’S 2400(when your scores are 2000+ you need to make “those last few questions”)

That’s all! Good Luck!

Direct hits for vocab. visit ur library for kaplan/pr/non-official SAT prep books. Buy the BB off of amazon or any online site cause its cheaper than from a store guaranteed. Also, there’s tons of online prep - Sparknotes (offers 3 practice SAT I exams and a plethora of SAT II subject exam prep)etc. - don’t limit yourself to books alone. On collegeboard there is a printable SAT aswell. With those books alone you can excel. I paid 1400 for a prep class at PR which truly did not help. I think if I did study alone, I would have excelled. For example, every math lesson I was given I knew the material fine, I just didn’t know how to apply it to the SAT. To learn to apply it is to use the books on your own. And also, in these courses, the teachers basically use a book like “Cracking the SAT” and just read it to you, but for 1000+. Good luck :).

Schools in a few days

So I’ll try to find some time to fit in SAT, however I will be taking my first AP.
AP World.

ThankYouEveryone(:
