SAT only one time?

Oh sheesh. I have been signed up and planning to take the March 14th SAT for a long while, and yesterday I qualified for State in debate and the state tournament is on the same day. I have yet to take the SAT, and not going to state is not an option. I have to take the SAT in May now (on the June date I'll be taking 3 subject tests).

Do you think that this is a very bad idea? Would it be a terrible thing if I did poorly on the May SAT and had to take the test again in October? My counselor is strongly urging me to finish up all my testing in my junior year, and I'm afraid that this state debate tournament has put far too much pressure on me getting my optimal score (~2300) on that one day. Do many people get the scores they want in one sitting?

No, your fine. Take it in may and then take the Sub tests in june. If you do poorly on the may sitting, you can still take the test in october and still be considered for your ED school. Its usually a good idea to take the SAT for the first time during the spring of junior year and then again during the winter of senior year. Your ok, trust me.

With adequate preparation you don't need to take the test more than once. Good luck with debate!

Thank you, that helps a lot! I suppose at least I have more time to study now...
