I’m a rising senior, and I’ve only taken each test once, with no real prep beforehand (I just read about the formats of each test). I got a 2220 (720 CR, 760 M, 740 W) on the March SAT, and a 32 (35 E, 31 M, 33 R, 30 S) on the February ACT. I read pretty quickly, so I didn’t have trouble finishing either test (except for the last science section on the ACT), and I don’t really have a preference as to which test I liked more. Additionally, I might need to take the Chemistry subject test before I apply to some colleges (for Engineering), so that would mean that I would have one less chance to take the SAT.
Does anyone have any advice as to which test I should start studying for?
Thanks
Edit: According to some charts that I have seen, my scores are just about equivalent, with my SAT being slightly higher.
I think with a little prep on the ACT, you could definitely break the 34-36 range–and it would probably be easier than improving on the SAT, as your scores are already in the low-mid 700’s and fairly consistent across the board, which means only a couple of questions in each section are keeping you from higher scores, which is more related to luck than studying. I would put more prep time into the ACT; you seem fully capable of getting a 36, where with tons of prep for the SAT, your scores would likely increase only a little or stay about the same, since there is so little room for you to improve. It depends what your goals are, and also which test you prefer because based on the information you provided you could achieve near perfect scores on both tests with adequate preparation.
@skgriffin Thanks for the advice
